Registration Policy

Classification of Students

A student who has earned less than thirty credit hours of faculty credit is classified as a ‘freshman’. A student who has earned thirty or more credit hours is classified as a ‘sophomore’.

Academic System and Credit Hours

Future University adopts a flexible credit hour system. The credit hour system is an educational measuring unit used for determining each course weight. It is equivalent to one weekly educational theoretical hour or two lab hours.

Academic years in the University's faculties are divided into 8-10 semesters (4-5 years), depending on the chosen faculty. The semester load is between 12-21 credit hours. Students with high GPA can register for up to 21 credit hours per semester. The maximum load for summer sessions is 9 credit hours.

  • Undergraduate students typically have an academic load ranging between 12 and 18 credit hours per semester.
  • Permission to exceed the maximum number of credit hours is subject to the student's previous academic record as well as the approval of the academic advisor and the Dean's.
  • The maximum load for the summer semester is nine credit hours.
  • Students must pass all pre-requisites before registering for a course.

Drop / Add Courses

    With careful attention to University and faculty requirements, there should be minimal need for course changes after the registration period. At the beginning of each semester, the University offers only two weeks to drop or add courses. Student shall abide by the following rules:
  • Students are not allowed to drop or add any course without the approval of both the Dean and the academic advisor.
  • Students may not add any course after the drop/add period.
  • Students may withdraw from courses during the first ten weeks of the semester, provided the number of remaining registered hours is not less than the minimum required for an academic semester. Otherwise, the course remains on the transcript, and the student grade for the dropped course is recorded as an F.

Repeating a Course

If a student fails a university or faculty required course in any semester, the student shall repeat this course. However, if the student fails an elective course, he or she may repeat the same course or register in another elective course with the approval of the academic advisor.

If the student succeeds in a repeated course, the F grade remains on their academic record, but the higher grade is the one calculated in the student's grade point average.

Class Attendance: The attendance of lectures, tutorials and instructions in laboratories is an essential requirement of a student's education at the University. The  interaction between students and faculty or staff in the classroom is essential.

  • A student who fails to attend at least 75 percent of all lectures and tutorials in a given course is not permitted to take the final exam and will receive an F.
  • A student who does not attend a mid-term exam, without an excuse acceptable to the course’s instructor shall not be allowed to sit for a make-up exam.

Incomplete Courses

    In exceptional cases, the student may not be able to complete work in a given course. In these cases, the student should submit a form that includes the following information:
  • Reasons for not completing the work
  • The material that is missing
  • Action required to complete the course

The student will receive an "I" in that semester. In addition, arrangements with the instructor must be made to complete the course within one month after the beginning of the new academic session. Otherwise, the student will receive an "F" grade in that course.

Probation and Warning

Students who fail to maintain a grade point average of 2.0 will be placed on probation. In this case, a letter is sent to the student's home address explaining what is required to avoid dismissal from the University. The probation period of no more than two regular semesters provides the student the opportunity to improve the GPA. A student on probation must limit the academic load to twelve credit hours. The student who fails to achieve the required standard by the end of the probation period will be dismissed from the University.

A student placed on scholastic probation is ineligible to be a candidate for an elected or appointed office of a University-sponsored activity or social organization. This restriction does not apply if participation in the activity or organization is part of the requirements of a course. The student may be required to forfeit any University scholarships and may be ineligible to represent the University in an activity.

Transfer between Faculties

Students may not apply to transfer from one faculty to another if they have less than a 3.75 GPA.

Semester Withdrawal

A student is entitled to withdraw from an academic semester within the withdrawal period, as announced in the academic calendar for the applicable semester.

The student will be considered to have failed if he or she withdraws after the withdrawal period unless the student has a valid reason acceptable to both the advisor and the Dean.

Academic Transcripts

An official transcript of university credits, bearing the University seal and the signature of the President of the University, is a record of the student’s academic record. A student may obtain copies of his or her transcript by a written, faxed, or personal request to the Admissions Office on the University’s campus. The request must include the student's full legal name, dates of attendance, National ID number, and a legible signature. All admission information must be on file, and all holds must be cleared before an official transcript will be released.
