English Language Department

Teaching Staff

The teaching faculty of the English Language Department is well qualified with experience ranging from four to more than twenty years. Their pedagogical knowledge stems from the various qualifications that they have, including the internationally recognized Cambridge CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults), the Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test), as well as national and international bachelor’s degrees, national and international master’s degrees in applied linguistics, in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and PhDs in Literature.

Manal El-Kalay

English Language Department Manal El-Kalay is the Director of the English Language Department. She is BA (Hons.) graduate from Paisley University (now the University of Western Scotland), has an MA (TESOL) from the University of Surrey, Guildford, London, UK, and the Cambridge CELTA qualification. She is a certified IELTS examiner and a former ESOL oral examiner and trainer. She has worked at several prominent institutes, including the British Council as an instructor, examiner and trainer, Prince Sultan University, al-Riyadh, as an instructor, coordinator and Director of the Preparatory Year Program, and in Al-Rajhi Bank in Saudi Arabia. Her work with Al-Rajhi Bank included the development of a specialized course for bank tellers English for Special Purposes (ESP). She has over twenty years teaching experience particularly to young adults at the tertiary level, focusing on English for Academic Purposes (EAP). After spending all her life abroad, she recently returned to Egypt and joined the university’s English Language Department in 2011.

Aya El-Bably

English Language Department Aya is an honors graduate of Ain Shams University, Faculty of Arts, Department of English Language and Literature. She holds a Master of Arts degree in English Literature with distinction from Cairo University and a certificate in Fundamentals of English Language Teaching (FELT) from the American University in Cairo (AUC), also achieved with distinction. Additionally, Aya has presented a research paper at the international conference of “Visions of Change: New Perspectives in Linguistics, Literature and Translation” at Helwan University. Aya joined FUE in 2012. Having a total of 10 years of experience in teaching university students, she has taught a broad spectrum of courses ranging from General English and Exam Preparation courses (KET, PET) to Academic and Business English besides Research and Report Writing. Aya has always been keen on developing herself as a teacher by both attending international TESOL conferences and participating in several human development workshops to enhance her teaching skills and her teacher-student relationship.

Bothaina Adham

English Language Department Bothaina is a graduate of the faculty of Arts, majoring in English literature. She obtained her CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) in 2011 as well as a Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) from TESOL International Association in 2015. She worked as an English instructor in various prestigious organizations. She then joined the CIC (Canadian International College) as a lecturer in 2013, and later became a member of the FUE team in 2014. She is currently a Cambridge DELTA candidate and in light of her strong belief in professional development, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Education later on. She is keen on creating a safe environment for students to express themselves in English which in turn allows students to grow both personally and academically.

Hebatallah Morsy

English Language Department Hebatallah has a BA in Education and English language arts from Ain Shams University. She completed a Professional diploma in Education Leadership from the AUC (American university in Egypt) in 2014. She also obtained a TOT (Professional Trainer Certificate) from AUC. Because of her belief in diverse skills, she got a Mini-MBA from Notting Hill College and Eaton University, plus a Green belt Six Sigma from Quality Egypt. She has been teaching for more than 10 years and worked in prestigious international schools and multinational companies. She likes computers and technology and currently is doing a graphics course to use stimulating teaching aids that will help the students enhance their creativity and critical thinking. Keen as she is about her professional development, she is doing a master degree in Educational leadership at an international university. Her teaching philosophy is briefly to empower students’ understanding of how to learn and use inventful ways of thinking.

Islam Ashry

English Language Department Islam took his BA in Arts and Education, English Major at Zagazig University in 2001. Since then, he has been working in many prestigious international premises, where he taught English Diploma for all levels and prepared students for International Exams i.e. TOEFL & IELTS. He is a certified English Trainer. He joined FUE as an English Instructor in 2014 and participated in the TEFL program as a lecturer at Ain Shams University in Egypt. He got the Cambridge CELTA qualification in 2015, which is an internationally accredited certificate for teaching adults. He has a total of sixteen years work experience in prominent institutions and international corporations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He is interested in enhancing the English capabilities of the University students by incorporating the new techniques and methods in teaching. Seeking professional development, he is currently doing MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Leicester University in UK.

Khadijah Al-Shazly

English Language Department Khadijah is a graduate of Ain Shams University, Faculty of Arts, Department of English Language and Literature. She has been an English language teacher for eight years. She worked in many places including October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) and was a program leader to the intensive courses for three years. Khadijah also worked at the British Council as a part time teacher after she got the Cambridge Certificate in English Language teaching to Adults (CELTA). Moreover, she completed a Project-Based Learning (PBL) course with the American English Institute in the Linguistics Department at the University of Oregon and is currently doing her Diploma in Education at Ain Shams University as part of the MA programme. She is a member of Nile TESOL and has been attending the annual conferences since 2007. Khadijah has been a volunteer teacher since 2011 as she believes that “Languages help people bridge cultures and understand each other.”

Mahmoud Elneshawy

English Language Department Mahmoud is an alumnus of the Faculty of Arts, Department of English Language and Literature. He holds a master's degree, with a specialization in Education at the American International College of Massachusetts. His qualifications include Train of Trainers certificate from OxfordHouse, Spain and a Professional Cambridge CELTA. His professional experience includes five years as an English Language Instructor and academic coordinator. He has a broad experience in the development and delivery of language programs to a wide variety of students encompassing diverse backgrounds, from beginners to advanced, students and migrants to business professionals. He started his work career as a freelance trainer teaching Business English in prestigious companies. As a volunteer educator, Mahmoud was involved with multinational NGOs and universities in different Asian countries teaching English as a Foreign Language to young learners. Mahmoud gained a wealth of experience teaching business clients, a range of business communication and personal building skills through the workshops he conducts as a part of his professional development.

Mohamed Sultan


Mohammed has invested as many as 20 years working in the field of English language teaching (ELT). Impressively, his ELT-experience is not limited to a particular stage but rather encompasses many different stages of education and their corresponding age groups. Indeed, Mohammed is one of a very few teachers who have ascended the educational ladder from its bottom through to its peak-- progressing down at Primary Stage up to Preparatory, through to Higher Education! The bulk of his teaching experience is with university students and higher education.

Mohammed is a graduate of the American University in Cairo (AUC), from where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication, 1989. He also successfully completed a Graduate Diploma in Translation Studies from Cairo University, 2007. Interestingly, much earlier in time, Mohammed had partly received some formal education in the United Kingdom. Reading for the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.), Mohammed was to enter a prestigious boarding school, namely The Lowther College, Chester, North Wales.

Radwa Younis

English Language Department Radwa completed her BA in English language and literature with honours and a Diploma in Applied Linguistics at Cairo University in 2007 and 2008 respectively. She joined FUE in 2010. Since then, she has pursued her professional development as an ELT teacher. Radwa obtained her Cambridge CELTA in 2012, Trinity College London Cert IBET (International Business English Training) in 2013 and Cambridge Delta (ELT Management specialisation) in 2014. Radwa has taught a range of courses including General English, English for Academic Purposes and Exam preparation courses. Radwa started doing teacher training in 2015 and currently runs a programme for continuous Professional Development at the ELD. To further enhance her experience, Radwa has been trained as a Trinity Cert. TESOL tutor at Oxford TEFL, Barcelona. In addition, she has presented at both national and international conferences such as NileTESOL 2015 and 2016 and IATEFL Birmingham 2016.

Rania Helal

English Language Department Rania obtained her BA in English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University in 2001. She did her MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Newcastle University, England, and was awarded the degree in 2008 with distinction. Her thesis focused on investigating teachers' and administrators' perceptions of native and non-native English teachers in terms of self- perceptions, strength and weaknesses and administrators’ beliefs and hiring practices. She taught English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for adults at Gateshead College, England, in 2008. She joined the department in 2010. She has taught various English courses at all language proficiency levels. She did the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) at the British Council Cairo in 2012. She has recently completed a Diploma in Educational Leadership (EDL) at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Her special fields of interest are Educational leadership and Effective Teaching and Learning.

Sara Amin Mohamed

English Language Department Sara is an honors graduate from Ain Shams University who joined FUE in March 2011. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the American University in Cairo (AUC) and a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from Cambridge University. She is currently enrolled in the Foundation Certificate in Business Administration and Management at AUC. So far, Sara had presented at two local conferences (I-LACE, Nile TESOL) in Egypt and one international conference in Ireland (Digital ELT Ireland) organized by IATEFL LT SIG. She has been working as an English instructor for six years now and has taught various courses including General English, Academic English and Exam Preparation courses (KET, PET). Her current interests include learning technologies to help transcend the boundaries of time and space and engage the students in a life-long learning experience.

Shady Reda

English Language Department Shady received his BA in ELT and Literature from Mansura University. Afterwards he obtained a foundation certificate in Translation from the American University in Cairo. In 2004, he finished his DELTA with Cambridge University and in 2005, he joined the MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics with the University of Leicester. Shady finished his training as a CerTESOL tutor with OxfordTEFL, Spain. Then he received two certificates in Teacher Training from TESOL International Association and TESOL Arabia. In 2013, Shady joined FUE as an EFL instructor. And he worked as a visiting TEFL tutor at the CDELT, Ain Shams University. He is a certified TEFL tutor from London Teacher Training College. Shady has presented in a series of national and international conferences such as the CDELT, Nile TESOL and TESOL Arabia. He is currently a Programme Manager at the DCE, FUE and the Head of FUE CELTA Centre.

Wafaa El-Sayed Abd El-Fattah

English Language Department Wafaa graduated from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Education - English Language Department in 2001. She obtained her Professional Diploma in English Language Teaching Methodology from Ain Shams University in 2002. She got her MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2004. She also achieved a Certificate in Translation from the AUC and a Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) from TESOL International Association. She has over 14 years of teaching experience. She worked for various well known institutions, including American entities such as AMIDEAST and AUC, as well as Egyptian private educational institutions, such as El-Shorouk Academy and Misr International University (MIU). She joined the FUE as an English language instructor in 2012. Her teaching philosophy includes providing students with a supportive learning environment and helping them achieve communicative competence through meaningful activities.
