Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- Identify the relationship between control and local government
2- Define important concept such as local systems, local governance, and local administration, government accountability and responsiveness
3- Investigate the key peculiarities, structure, functions and problems of local governments.
4- Observe the contemporary trend in administrative decentralization
5- Investigate the concepts of "Reinventing the government" and " the new public management" from various case studies
6- Identify funding functions of local systems and their problems in selected countries

1- Compare different local administration reform efforts and the lessons learned from each case
2- Distinguish between different local systems in developing and developed countries
3- Analyze important problems facing local government in Egypt
4- Examine major factors driving local government reforms
5- Classify different effects of reform efforts in developing countries
