Electric pulp tester (vitality scanner):

Used to ascertain vitality of tooth.
The tip Placed on the tooth to be tested with a drop of conducting paste, electric current is passed and increased until patient feels.
Best used to determine vitality of traumatized tooth:
- Very quick response (pulpitis).
- No response with pulp necrosis or dental abcess.
