Pharmacy is concerned with preparing suitable materials from natural and synthetic sources for use in the treatment and prevention of diseases. It comprises the knowledge of identification, selection, preservation, analysis and compounding medicines.

 

 

 

The faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Future University aims to create an environment of distinction that meets the current and future needs of pharmacy practice. It fosters high quality pharmaceutical research and education backed by an innovative academic program.

 

Spotlight

Basel & Nova Southern Universities are Awaiting FUE students

 

 

 

 

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Khaled Azazy approved the delegation of a number of pharmacy students for the summer training at Basel University, Switzerland and Nova Southern University NSU, United States based on the pre-signed agreements between the above mentioned universities and the FUE.

 

 

 

Events

The Significance of Modern Industrial Pharmacy Education Seminar

Prof.Dr. Gabriele Betz , Head of Industrial Pharmacy, Basil University, Switzerland, conducted a seminar entitled The significance of Modern Industrial Pharmacy Education at FUE on the 1st of March 2009 .

The Future University in Egypt signed a Students Exchange Agreement with Basil University.

Consistent with this agreement, a delegation of carefuly selected FUE students will be travelling to Basil University as exchange students.

General Syndicate of Pharmaceutics Meeting at FUE

On March 10th 2008 The General Syndicate of Pharmacists met at Future University. The outcome of the meeting was full acceptance by the syndicate of FUE's plan to build the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Facility. Members of the association were impressed by FUE and its facilities, specifically its labs and equipment, starting that FUE is comparable to many of the world's leading universities.

 


Dr. Adel Sakr, Ph.D. Recognized as FIP Fellow by the International Pharmaceutical Federation

 

Dr. Adel Sakr, Ph.D. was presented the FIP Fellow Award from the International Pharmaceutical Federation.

The purpose of the Fellow is to recognize individual members of FIP who have exhibited strong leadership internationally, who have distinguished themselves in the pharmaceutical sciences and /or the practice of pharmacy, and who have served FIP. FIP Fellows may use the designation “FFIP”.

Dr. Sakr was recognized as FIP Fellow during the Opening Ceremony of the 2011 FIP Pharmacy World Congress in Hyderabad, India .

 

Dr. Adel Sakr Ph.D. receives prestigious, 2011 Research Achievement Award AAPS
  

FUE proudly congratulates Dr. Adel Sakr, Ph.D. on his being selected as the recipient of the highly competitive, AAPS 2011 Research Achievement Award in Manufacturing Science and Engineering. 

 The award is among the highest presented by the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and was presented to Dr. Sakr for his continued high quality work and its impact in the field.

AAPS formally presented Dr. Sakr with the award at the 2011 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington. DC. on October 23, 2011.

Pharmaceutical Workshop on Tablets and Capsules
Manufacturing October 11th and 12th, 2011

 

 





On October 11th and 12th of 2011, Future University conducted a highly informative and comprehensive Pharmaceutical workshop in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical tablets and capsules.

Under the leadership of Dr. Adel Sakr, the workshop provided teaching assistants and students with the opportunity to learn and share knowledge with reputable doctors, scholars and pharmaceutical experts.

There was excellent participation in this workshop with large attendance of over 200 participants to include professors, teaching assistants and multinational pharmaceutical company pharmacists, scientists and engineers.

SOTAX, a leader in the development and manufacturing of tablet test instruments and software for the pharmaceutical industry worldwide, contributed to the workshop by providing demonstrations of some of their latest technology.    
In addition, highly qualified speakers from OYSTAR-HUETTLIN (Germany), BOSCH (Europe) and NATOLI ENGINEERING (USA) presented the latest technologies in manufacturing of Tooling, Tablets & Capsules.    Dr. Sakr presented three hours overview of the recent advances and trends in the formulation and QC/QA for Tablets and Capsules.
FUE congratulates Dr. Adel. Sakr for his tremendous work in arranging the workshop, as well as for its great success.

The workshop was held at Intercontinental City stars in Cairo, organized in cooperation with Papyrus Traveling Agency.

 

 

“FUE faculty presents their recent scientific research findings in American Chemical Society Meeting”

Dr. Hussein El-Subbagh, professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry presents his recent scientific findings in The 46th Midwest/39th Great Lakes Joint Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society, Saint Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. October 19-22, 2011. The poster topic was on the application of three chromatographic techniques in the bioanalysis of the new Ultra-Short-Acting Hypnotic Drug Ethyl 8-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrothiazolo[3,2-a][1,3]diazepin-3-carboxylate (HIE-124, 1) previously patented by Dr. El-Subbagh in Germany, 2004. This research work was in collaboration with Dr. Ehab A. Abourashed, Chicago State University, USA and Dr. Mohamed M. Hefnawy, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Read More

 

“FUE pharmacy research  appeared in the leading Journal of Medicinal Chemistry 2011”

Collaborative research efforts among three universities belong to three different continents: Future University, Egypt; Jena University, Germany and King Saud University, Saudi Arabia generated a distinguished research results appeared in the leading Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. The research article entitled:
"Chiral Indolo[3,2-f][3]benzazecine-Type Dopamine Receptor Antagonists: Synthesis and Activity of Racemic and Enantiopure Derivatives.  The 3 Day FUE International Conference on Pharmaceutical Technologies Has Ended Successfully


Future University organized and hosted an outstanding international conference on Pharmaceutical Technologies chaired by Prof. Dr. Adel Sakr and Prof. Dr. Osama Salama.
The conference included three parallel workshops on Tablets & Capsules Manufacturing Technologies, Advances in Sterile Products Technologies, Advances Drug Delivery Systems; two parallel symposia on Drug Marketing and Quality Assurance in Pharmacy Education, a Round Table Discussion on Registration of Pharmaceuticals, and poster sessions on the latest in pharmaceutical research which included all specialties.
The conference was attended by more than 750 participants from Academia, Industry and Ministries of Health in Egypt and neighboring countries.
More than 45 international speakers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Tunisia, Germany, Holland, England, Greece,  Switzerland, India, Ireland, Italy, and USA.
Among the distinguished speakers was Dr. Tom Sam, President of the Industrial Pharmacy Section of the International Federation of Pharmacy, Professor Clive Wilson, President of the European Union Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Saleh Al Suwayeh, Chairman of the Saudi  FDA Technical Registration Committee, Professor Linda Felton, Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of New Mexico, Professor Dahmani Fathallah, Director of the Biotechnology Program of Arab Gulf University, Dr. Erich Sturzenegger, NOVARTIS Director of Pharma OP, Austria and Professor Adel Sakr, 2008 AAPS Outstanding Educator and the recipient of the  2011 International  Distinguished Research Achievement Award for Manufacturing Science and Engineering Award and Professor Roland Bodmeier, Chairman of Pharmaceutical Technology, University of Berlin. 

 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 
One hundred fifty posters for original research work were presented.    An international committee evaluated the posters and FUE presented four Dr. Hassan Azazy awards for best students’ poster presentations. 
Two undergraduate FUE students won two Awards, and two graduate students from Saudi Arabia and Egypt won the graduate students awards.
Eva Pharma invited 100 conference participants, mainly FUE students and International Speakers to a company visit followed by dinner with life Egyptian Music.
 
 
First Recipient of an FUE International Post Graduate Scholarship
Rasha Elbatanony
 
    


Future University in Egypt and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries congratulates Rasha Salaheldin Mahmoud Elbatanony on her full Scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Berlin in Germany. FUE board of trustees is fully funding and supporting her post graduate studies as a distinguished student. This is the first Ph.D. scholarship of its kind in any private or national university in Egypt.

Rasha received her bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Ain Shams University, graduating with excellent honors, GPA 4/4. She was awarded a Masters Degree scholarship from the Egyptian Scientific Acadamy specializing in Biopharmaceutics from Tanta University. The title of her thesis is “A Study to Design and Optimize a Gastroretentive Drug Delivery System of Highly Soluble, Poorly Permeable Drug

She has experience as a Production Pharmacist where she conducted lab work in the testing and analysis of new and enhanced drugs and participated in quality assurance processes and reviews. She was also a teaching assistant and assistant lecturer in the Pharmaceutical Technology Department at FUE.

We wish Rasha the best as she embarks on her latest academic journey!


 

 

 INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Future University is the first private university in Egypt to sponsor the teaching assistants for studying for their Ph.D. degrees in Europe or USA.
FUE announced the award of at least two scholarships for Ph.D. studies in Europe or USA for each faculty.
The first award of these scholarships was to Assistant Lecturer Rasha El Batanony who is now studying for her Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy, University of Berlin, Germany, with the world known Professor Roland Bodmeier.

 


  
 
 
  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Dr. Hassan Azazy Scholarships for Research Summer Internship in USA


Teaching Assistants Aya El Fouly and Menna Esmail Eissa, from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries, were awarded the 2012 Dr. Hassan Azazy Scholarships for Research Summer Internship in the USA for three months intensive research work at the College of Pharmacy, University of New Mexico, U. S. A. The office of FUE Chairman of the Board of Trustees Assistant for Graduate Studies, Research and International Affairs provided the necessary scientific and logistics support for this unique opportunity, first of its kind in a private university in Egypt. Both Aya and Menna were mentored by Dr. Linda Felton and Dr. Graham Timmins. Aya and Menna look forward to jump start their M. S. thesis research at University of New Mexico from June 1st to August 31st, 2012.
