US Board of Pharmacy at Future University

On May 3, 2016 senior administrators from the US Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) and Future University in Egypt (FUE) met to explore potential future collaboration between the two organizations. BPS was represented by Dr Brian Lawson, Director of Professional Affairs; FUE was represented by Dr Ebada Sarhan- FUE President, Dr Seham El-Kheshen – Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries and Ms Bahira Samy – Director of Continuing Education. Dr Rasha El-Mekawy – Marketing Consultant and Syndicate Coordinator for the American Board program accompanied Dr Lawson. Discussions covered an orientation given by Dr Lawson on the US pharmacist Board System vs. a thorough description of the Egyptian pharmacology educational system given by Dr El-Kheshen and complemented by Dr Sarhan; Ms Samy expressed an interest in the possibility of offering the preparation courses for the American BPS Board Certification as well as probing the potential of becoming an authorized testing service. Dr Sarhan presented the FUE Shield and gift to Dr Lawson as an expression of appreciation. The meeting was followed by a visit to FUE’s pharmacy as well as the Faculty’s factory. Dr Lawson was highly impressed and said, and I quote:” had I gone to school here I would’ve had a different career”. Email communication will act as a follow-up.
