Course Description

The course covers the fundamentals of the analysis and design of concrete structures including: physical and mechanical properties of underneath soil, analysis and design of shallow foundations with its different types (isolated, combined, raft, etc.….), analysis and design of deep foundations with its different types (piers, piles, diaphragm walls, etc.…) and foundations subjected to vibration loads.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

Identify the site investigations used to measure the required physical and mechanical properties of soil layers
Understand the soil structure interaction in an easy way
Analyze different types of shallow foundations
Design different types of shallow foundations
Realize the need of deep foundation via the nature of soil layers
Carryout fundamental steps necessary for the analysis and design of deep foundations
Be familiar with the analysis and design of foundation subjected to vibration loads
