ITI holds a 3-day psychodrama workshop for FUE students and handicapped trainees
Future University in Egypt launched a psychodrama and theatre workshop organized by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Germany in collaboration with Arabian CSR Council. The 3-day workshop was attended by handicapped trainees along with FUE students.
The workshop falls under a series of educational events organized by the International Theatre Institute, reflecting the institute’s awareness of its social responsibility in developing the cultural awareness of youth, and supporting innovation and creativity. The workshop, which was given by Dr. Maqari a Professor of Oriental Theatre in Germany, focused on the basics and foundations of arts and drama.
“The psychodrama and theatre workshop aims at implementing a new system of non-standard training based on psychodrama role-play. The training is carried out through a series of exercises that focus on the elements of theatrical shows, which capture psychodrama, which is done, by combining psychology with innovation, in role-play. This process can help the actor reach a state on self-rehabilitation and also provides important tools and techniques that can be used to address life’s problems,” said Dr. Maqari.
“The role of workshops like these has evolved greatly and today, there is an understanding of how this type of workshop can support educational goals and develop the character of targeted audiences of all ages. Our aim is to provide our attendees with psychological and mental fulfillment to help them in maintaining positive relationships with their families and society,” added Maqari.
At the end of the workshop, each trainee was awarded with a certificate in the field of psychodrama, which is accredited by the International Theatre Institute and the Arabian CSR Council in Egypt. A protocol between ITI and the Arabian CSR Council in Egypt was also signed during the workshop, to ensure further collaborations in the same field, in the near future.
