VR Immersion for Interior Design Workshop at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology at Future University in Egypt
As part of its continuous commitment to innovation and
integrating cutting-edge technologies into education, the Faculty of
Engineering & Technology at Future University in Egypt is organizing a
specialized workshop titled “VR Immersion for Interior Design”, scheduled to
take place on April 22-23, 2026.
This intensive workshop is designed for interior design
students and enthusiasts, offering a hands-on learning experience that
introduces participants to the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in developing and
presenting design projects in a more immersive and professional manner.
Workshop Overview
The workshop focuses on transforming traditional 3D models
into fully interactive virtual environments. Participants will learn how to
convert their designs created using SketchUp or Rhino into navigable VR
experiences.
Objectives
The workshop aims to:
• Introducing the fundamentals of Virtual Reality and related hardware
• Explore the software ecosystem used in architectural visualization
• Prepare and optimize 3D models for real-time rendering
• Create realistic materials and lighting environments
• Develop interactive and navigable VR scenes
• Enhance design presentation and client communication
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
• Build immersive and interactive virtual environments
• Apply realistic lighting scenarios (day/night)
• Integrate interactive elements such as switches and animated assets
• Create guided virtual tours using camera paths and animations
• Generate standalone executable (.EXE) files for easy project sharing
• Produce a professional 30-second animated presentation video
Workshop Structure
The workshop is divided into two main sessions:
Session One:
Covers the fundamentals of VR, including hardware and software, model
preparation, scene building, application of PBR materials, lighting setup, and
the first VR testing experience.
Session Two:
Focuses on creating interactivity and presentation through animations, camera
paths, and guided tours, in addition to performance optimization and exporting
the final project as a standalone executable file, along with a short
presentation video.
Final Deliverables
Participants will receive:
• A portfolio showcasing their workflow and outputs
• A complete VR project for a small interior space
• A standalone (.EXE) file
• A 30-second animated video
Registration Dates
• Registration Opens: March 18, 2026
• Registration Closes: April 14, 2026
