Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Motaal is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Future University in Egypt (FUE) and formerly a Head Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the Structural Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. With a prolific academic career spanning over three decades at Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel-Motaal has established himself as a leading authority in geotechnical and structural engineering. His research focus, evident from his postgraduate theses on soil dynamics and seismic behavior, has consistently centered on the critical interaction between soil and structures, particularly under dynamic loads. Prof. Abdel-Motaal's career demonstrates a steady ascent through the academic ranks, culminating in his current role. He is deeply involved in the university's leadership, holding key positions such as Member of the Supreme Advisory Committee for Engineering Projects and Arbitration, and serving on the Board of Directors for both the Engineering Consulting Centre and the Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Research Unit. His expertise is nationally recognized through his long-standing role as a permanent member of the committee responsible for preparing and updating the Egyptian Code for Soil Mechanics and Foundations at the Housing and Building Research Center.
