Future University in Egypt International Workshop on Modern Tablets and Capsules Formulation, Manufacturing and Problem Solving, January 27 & 28, 2016

News Future University in Egypt held its 5th workshop/conference under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Adel Sakr on January 27 & 28, 2016 at the Intercontinental Hotel, City Stars.

More than thirty international speakers and sponsors, and more than three hundred participants attended the workshops. International speakers from academia and international pharmaceutical companies from USA, Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, England, Kuwait and Switzerland participated. Pharmacists, Engineers and Scientists from Egypt, Oman, Sudan, Nigeria Saudi Arabia and other countries attended. The following companies and Universities participated: Sandoz, Amipharma, DEEF, EIPICO, EEPI, PHARCO, PARCO-B, Al Amriya, Nile, SEDICO, Global Napi, Amoun, ADCO, Marcyrl, Memphis, October Pharma, RAMEDA, CID, MUP, BORG, Sigma Tech, Al Kahira, DMS, Future, NODCAR, Misr, Armed Forces, Pfizer, National Research Center, GUC, BUE, AUC, Cairo, Delta, Azhar, FUE, Egyptian Russian, Mansura, Delta, MTI and Pharos.

The workshop began with the presentations of Prof. Adel Sakr on the Characteristics of a Good Tablet, Tablet Ingredients and the Methods of Tablet Manufacturing. This was followed by the presentations of Mr. Ulrich Marcher (Germany) on Co-processed Excipients, Dr. Marcus Knoell (Germany) on Fluid-Bed Processing, Prof. Dr. Sven Stegemann (Austria) on Hard Gelatin Capsules and Mr. Andreas Nuessle (Germany) on Capsule Filling Technology. The Second day began with the presentation of Dr. Bianca Broegmann (Germany) on Controlled Release Formulation, followed by presentations of Dr. Marcus Knoell (Germany) on Scale-up, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Khattab (Kuwait) on problems of Tablet Manufacturing, Dr. Erich Sturzenegger (Switzerland) on Design of a Modern Tablets and Capsules Manufacturing Facility, Dr. Nicolas Madit (France) Capsules Design and Types, Ms. Anastasiya Zakhvatayeva (Italy) on Tablet Press Behavior, Mr. Robert Sedlock (USA) on Powder Compaction and Mr. Tony Marlow (England) on Coating Technologies.

A unique feature of the workshop is the recognition and appreciation of Future University in Egypt to the leaders of Pharmaceutical Industry such as the late Dr. Makram Mehany, former chair of the Chamber of Pharmaceuticals, Professor Abdulla Molokhia, former Vice-Chair and Dr. Ahmed El Ezaby the current Chair of the chamber of pharmaceuticals.

The workshop was well attended until the last minute of its full two day duration. The workshop evaluations were, in general, very positive. There were many requests for further FUE workshops to address other important topics such as Sterile Products, Bio-availability and Bio-equivalence, QbD, Stability and QC/QA.
