Computer guided treatment planning and surgical protocols have been used with increasing frequency in recent years. The precision that can be achieved with these methods represents a significant improvement over free hand surgery and reduces the risk of impinging upon vital structures. In addition, it facilitates prosthodontically driven implant placement. In addition flapless surgical protocols can be employed which significantly lessens post –treatment morbidity. Also, in recent times tilted implants have been successfully employed, particular in the restoration of edentulous patient. The purpose of this presentation is to carefully describe these two innovations, and provide a rationale for their application and utilization.
