Salma Okasha, Coordination Assistant in the Policy, Governance, and Liaison Unit, on behalf of Mr. Laurent De Boeck, IOM Egypt’s Chief of Mission, said "This international celebration emphasizes the importance of gender equality which is a behavior that IOM practices in their daily activities. IOM is always working on raising the awareness of the community on gender related issues specially in migration”. She also highlighted the role of women that support their husbands who work abroad and remint money to Egypt which contributes to the economic growth of the country.
And through the ceremony that took place in Future university’s theatre, Dr Ebada Sarhan, Future University in Egypt president, added that "There is an important role for women in various fields, activities, and business. And he finished his speech stressing that the university supports the role of women and hold many special events for Arab and African communities".
The celebration has been concluded by Dr. Randa Rizk (professor of Educational Media and Community Responsibility Consultant) which confirmed the role of women in society, and that one of the most important work being done is to achieve sustainable development by cooperation with the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration.
On the sidelines of the celebration, an exhibition was held to market the products of immigrant women especially from African countries, who presented their products and handicrafts to university students and attendees of the conference.
