Electronic Policy

  • In additional to its own physical collection of resources, the university library provides internet access as an electronic resource to be used solely as a source of information for individual educational and research purposes. Students are expected to use these resources in a responsible manner, and must adhere to their usage regulations.
  • Due to its nature as a global diverse network the library does not screen material and is not responsible for the information obtained by students through the Internet with regard to accuracy, comprehensiveness, or credibility of content. Therefore, students might be exposed to material that may be considered controversial, inappropriate or offensive.
  • The library reserves the right to impose time limits on the use of library computers.
  • The library is not responsible for any damage, direct or indirect, arising from the students' use of its Internet services.

Guidelines for Access and Use:

The following actions are considered a violation of the library's guidelines for access and use of the library's computer system and Internet resources:
  • Violating copyrights and licensing agreements or library policies for any purposes
  • Destroying or damaging library property and equipment as well as tampering or altering any software system or hardware configurations
  • Interference with the privacy of other library users in a manner considered offensive or threatening, including accessing others people’s personal accounts, private files, or e-mails, without the owner's authorization
  • Using the library resources for commercial benefit or transmitting content to anyone who has no relationship with the university
  • Misusing library facilities and resources for interference with other network systems, including hacking, uploading or downloading files, software, databases, to library computers or networks, spamming, the spreading of computer viruses, excessive overuse of time limits or printing resources, or disrupting the system security measures

Violations of the Guidelines:

  • Any violation of the terms of this policy may result in loss of library privileges.
  • The library reserves the right to penalize users who repeat any violation of these guidelines after a previous warning by:
    • Giving the user a preliminary warning
    • Monitoring or terminating the user’s network connections without prior notice
    • Prohibiting the user from future access to or use of the library’s computer system and services
