Dr. Houman A. Sadri

He is an associate professor at the UCF Political Science Department and the Coordinator of the UCF Model UN Program. Professor Sadri earned his PhD from the University of Virginia (established by President Thomas Jefferson). He completed a fellowship focusing on revolutionary states and terrorist groups at the Hoover Institution of the Stanford University. He is the author of 4 books, which received excellent reviews. They are: Revolutionary States: Leaders & Foreign Relations (1997), Trends, Prospects, & Challenges of Globalization (2009), Global Security Watch: The Caucasus (2010), and Intercultural Communications: A New Approach to International Relations (2011).

Dr. Sadri is also the author of more than 70 scientific articles and book chapters. He is a frequent presenter at national and international meetings. Moreover, he serves as a consultant for the U.S. government agencies, including the State Department and Department of Defense. He is a frequently interviewed about the Middle East affairs and the Former Soviet Republics by national and international media, from the BBC News program to Voice of America network, and from Australian National Radio to the Turkish TV to name a few. Professor Sadri’s geographic area of research is the Middle East and the Caspian Sea, where he visits frequently. His projects are often funded by grants from a variety of public and private agencies, including the U.S. State Department, U.S. Fulbright Program, International Exchange Board (IREX), Eurasia National University (Kazakhstan), International Studies Association, Udmurt State University (Russia), and UAE University (UAE) to name a few. Regarding teaching, Dr. Sadri teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses. Beyond Florida, Dr. Sadri has trained PhD students around the world from Canada to Kazakhstan. His teaching effectiveness, techniques, and style have earned him several teaching and training awards from UCF, the National Political Science Honor Society (Pi Sigma Alpha), Udmurt State University (Russian), and the Golden Key Honor Society to name a few. Dr. Sadri is the founder and coordinator of the UCF Model United Nations Program. His students have won many awards and recognitions at both regional and national Model UN competitions and conferences. In terms of service activities, Dr. Sadri serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Iranian Research and Analysis.

He also serves on the board of several international research centers from the US to Turkey and Kazakhstan. In addition, Professor Sadri serves as consultant for the Greater Orlando United Nations Association-USA Chapter (the local representative of the UN). Moreover, he is on the Executive Board of the World Affairs Council of Central Florida (the local representative of the U.S. State Department). Last but not least, Dr. Sadri is strongly involved with community organization; and he has served as a guest speaker for many community groups & organizations.
